A friend asked me: “Do you know how to stop Windows making noises when you backspace into nothing?”

The solution is to set the Windows Default Beep sound to nothing:

1. Control Panel->Sound
2. ‘Sounds’ tab
3. Set the ‘Default Beep’ to (None)

Voilà!
